Research on super-liquid-repellent surfaces, particularly those utilizing dimethylsilicone skeleton coatings, is driven by the need for fluoro-free alternatives focused on sustainable packaging due to environmental concerns about Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). This study aims to develop such surfaces through atomic layer deposition (ALD), optimizing surface chemistry and topography to enhance liquid repellency.

Main objectives:

  • Develop a Fluorine-free ALD process
  • Optimize coating conditions and characterize surface properties
  • Evaluate durability and compare with conventional treatments
