About
CIMANET is an interdisciplinary doctoral education network advancing sustainable growth through the circular materials bioeconomy.
Coordinated by Aalto University, we build the knowledge and skills needed to accelerate the transition from fossil-based systems to bio-based solutions, developing novel processes and materials that unlock the full potential of biomass.
What we do
- Train doctoral researchers in cutting-edge science and technology to holistically utilize biomass.
- Develop sustainable processes and long-lasting, high-performance materials that reduce carbon intensity and deliver real-world impact across sectors.
- Guide innovation with comprehensive sustainability assessments: environmental, economic, and societal, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (2–13; 15–16).
- Work hand-in-hand with industry, research and technology organizations, and other stakeholders to accelerate deployment and scale-up.
- Address the competence needs for a more sustainable future and boost the number of doctorates in Finland in the field of circular materials bioeconomy.
